Sandy Bay Basic School
Our local basic school is situated on the main road to Negril as you pass out of Sandy Bay
EVERYONE IS WELCOME...just drop in as you go to Negril and ask for Mrs. Malcolm the headmistress and you'll recieve a warm welcome and lots of hugs. They dont even have an office but she's in the 2nd classroom. The school provides primary eductaion for 80+ children ages 3 to 7yrs. And as the name would imply, the school is very basic with very limited goverment funds and with no one to help them. One of the local churches has started to build some extra bathroom's (only 4 stall's for the use of the kids and teachers ) but they have also hit on hard times and the project stands unfinished.

The reception class have break time
They need bulding / puzzle type toys...note the old bits of wood in the bottom left hand corner that they use at the moment. They would also like some cassette's (they dont have a CD ) with songs that teach the time, abc, numbers, story time & songs ect.

The dining room and office !
The school lunch is a big part of the day.... today was pumpkin soup, cowfoot & beans with rice....but they are in need of cooking utensils, plastic forks & spoons, beakers / cups, plates ect. |

Basic bathrooms
At present the school has 2 toilets to serve the kids and staff. The new bathrooms that the local Baptist church has tired to build still needs cement, 2 toilets and zinc for the roof.
